Happy Thanksgiving, members and friends of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the German Wine Society. This is our annual dues notice and notification for our December dessert wine tasting held at my home.
It’s that time of year again – the current dues structure is:
1. New Members, individual or couple: $10.00 initiation fee for each person; $35.00 dues for either couple or individual.
2. Renewing Members: $35.00 per individual or couple.
3. Lapsed members: Payment of the $35.00 dues is sufficient to reactivate a lapsed membership.
4. Make dues checks payable to “German Wine Society,” and mail to 24 Shadowstone Drive, Blackwood, NJ 08012. Please mail your dues to ensure receipt by Dec. 31, 2017, to enable the timely completion of the chapter financial statement for the National Treasurer.
Each member couple and each individual member attend Chapter events at the member rate; individual members may also bring one guest at the member rate. Additional guests and non-members pay the non-member rate to attend events, which is $7.50 more than members, except for the current event where the difference is $10.00.

Our traditional December event, intended to encourage current members into renewing, non-members into joining and lapsed members into returning to the fold, is a tasting of late harvest and dessert wines, featuring some older vintages and rarities. Due to space limitations, the event is limited to 16 registrants. We will permit guests, space permitting, however, members (new and returning) will receive preference for the available seats. (Note the cutoff dates below). In addition to joining or renewing your membership and the modest materials fee, we ask that attendees please bring a dessert for the sweet table. The chapter will provide sliced turkey breast, ham and cheese for sandwiches.

COST: Members: $25 per person plus a dessert for the table; Non-members, $35.00 plus dessert for the table.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please make sure you provide a telephone number where you can be reached during the day, and on the day before the event, in case we need to reach you last minute. A waiting list will be maintained; please let me know ASAP if you must cancel a a reservation so I have time to reach those next on the list. Call 856-228-7330 and leave a message on voicemail if you don’t reach me. Phone is recommended over e-mail in this unfortunate situation, but e-mail if you cannot call.

All Society members and guests are reminded that alcohol consumption can lead to intoxication and therefore Society members and their guests are expected to drink in moderation at Society events. We suggest those attending either utilize designated drivers or other modes of transit where available, or mostly taste rather than consume alcohol when such drivers or alternative means of transportation are not available.
