Holiday Party at the Cosmos Club

Ho Ho Ho, German Wine Society Members and Friends of German Wines,

It’s nearly time to hang the stockings and dream of nice German wine……

So, please plan to attend the GWS holiday paired dinner at the Cosmos Club, Friday, December 9, 2016, starting at 7 p.m.  We are very fortunate to have access to this lovely venue again this year.

The address for our holiday dinner is 2121 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20008.   Metro is near and parking is ample. The venue is stunning: a private room, the Members Dining Room, in this landmark building.  Perfect for that special evening with friends and family!

The paired dinner: an exciting variety of German, and Austrian wines ranging from Trocken through Auslese styles and covering a variety of appellations ( Rheinhessen, Franken, Pfalz, Mosel & Austrian Weinviertal Sparkler ).

Roasted Arctic Char w/ butternut squash coulis, wild mushroom risotto, baby carrot and haricot verts; hot popovers

Club parking is off Florida Ave. behind the club. There is a small white sign showing the parking entrance.  Parking is free and there is no tipping at the club including the valet parking. Parking is limited and Club members have preference. It is highly advisable to get there early in case there are numerous functions going on at the club that evening.

Dress code is strict, coats and ties for men, no jeans or tennis shoes.  Comparable attire for women.

Dinner is $110 for members, $120 for non-members.

The deadline for reservations is Dec 3 so that we may provide Chef the count. This promises to be a wonderful event so send off your reservations right away and don’t miss out.

GWS and COSMOS club member Dean Collins has kindly offered to once again give tours of the historic COSMOS building prior to this event.  If you are interested, please arrive one hour early in order to take part.

All Society members and guests are reminded that alcohol consumption can lead to intoxication, and therefore Society members and their guests are expected to drink in moderation at Society events.  It is advisable to provide designated drivers or other modes of transit where available, or mostly to taste rather than consume alcohol when such drivers or alternative means of transportation are not available.
