Every year we host a tasting to provide members and guests with an early opportunity to taste wines from the new vintage. The 2011 wines are just arriving, and now is a great time to sample what is available so you can decide what to buy based on the most important information of all– what tastes good to you!
The tasting will be Friday, March 22, at 7 p.m. The price is $35 for members and $42 for non-members.
2011 was something of a return to normal after the big, fruity wines of 2009 and the wild and crazy wines of 2010. Terry Theise calls it a “good guy” vintage, with delicious wines that are approachable now.
We are fortunate that DC boasts one of the best German wine retailers in the country, Phil Bernstein of MacArthur Beverages, who will present some value wines, some new wines, and all wonderful wines.
The wines we will be serving are:
Flight #1
2011 Gysler Scheurebe HT
2011 Kruger-Rumpf Scheurebe Spaetlese
Flight #2
2011 Doennhoff Riesling Estate Qba
