The German Wine Society would like to invite you to a very special evening with Janet Cam, who will be pairing a delicious global array of tapas-style foods with German Sekt. The event will take place on Friday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m.
Janet Cam is best known as the co-proprietor of the elegant LePavillon restaurant in Washington DC and the Managing Director of the legendary Lutèce restaurant in New York City. At LePavillon, Nouvelle Cuisine was introduced to the United States. The restaurant garnered the Wine Spectator Grand Award and became one of the few dining experiences comparable to a Michelin 3 star restaurant in France. Today, Janet provides consulting services to restaurant and hospitality businesses with a focus on wine and beverage programs. Ms. Cam also conducts weekly food and wine tastings addressing various wine subjects including Value for Money Wines, comparative tasting of cellared Entry Level Wines vs Current Release Wines from Great Producer as well as Tasting for Potential.
Not well known, Germany is one of the largest sparkling wine markets in the world. One of four bottles of sparkling wine produced in the world is consumed in Germany. Sparkling wine produced in Germany is called Sekt. Sekt is made in all German wine regions, both in the méthode traditionnelle and charmat method.

She will pair these Sekts with the following Tapas-style food:

Labneh and Ajvar served with Sangak Bread

The address for our tasting is The Colonnade, 2801 New Mexico Av, NW, at the intersection with 42nd St, Tunlaw Rd and Fulton St in Glover Park. The closest bus stop is the D2 (from Dupont Circle) at Edmunds and 41st Sts. The N2 and N6 buses stop at New Mexico and Cathedral Aves. The 30 – 37 buses on Wisconsin Ave are a ten-minute walk away at the Garfield St stop. There is valet parking; a $2 gratuity is suggested.
All Society members and guests are reminded that alcohol consumption can lead to intoxication, and therefore Society members and their guests are expected to drink in moderation at Society events. It is advisable to provide designated drivers or other modes of transit where available, or mostly to taste rather than consume alcohol when such drivers or alternative means of transportation are not available.
