Join us Friday, February 22, at 7 p.m., as we experience “Rapturous Reds Redux” as presented by our own Michael Fritze, who has spent his time meticulously researching candidates for this tasting. The price for this tasting is $35 for members and $42 for non-members. It will be held at the Harbour Square Club Room.
We are happy to present a reprise of last year’s popular German red wine tasting. Although Germany is rightfully known for world-class white wines, a revolution is taking place in German red wine quality. This is due to a combination of improved winemaking practices and the effects of global warming. Together with the traditional red wine regions of the Ahr, Wűrttemberg, Baden and Rheingau (Assmannshausen), a new generation of ambitious vintners is realizing extraordinary quality improvements in German red wine. Mike Fritze has again thoroughly researched both existing and new red wine vintners and developed a tasting menu that should satisfy everyone’s curiosity about German red wines. This tasting will feature prominent German red wine producers from the Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Baden, Ahr, and Rheingau. Varietals featured include Spaetburgunder (Pinot Noir), Dornfelder, Trollinger and Lemberger.
The wines we will taste:
