GWS 2020 New Vintage Tasting with Phil Bernstein (March 13th, 2020) – Cancelled

Every year we host a tasting to try German wines from the new vintage, with a focus on Riesling. Our host is Phil Bernstein, General Manager of MacArthur Beverages, one of the leading retailers of German Riesling in the country. Every year, Phil brings fabulous wines for us to try and this year is definitely no exception.  We will sample ten German wines, accompanied by a tasty buffet of cheeses, breads, grapes, veggies and cold cuts.  As always, there will be an opportunity to order your favorite wines from Phil for later pickup at MacArthur Beverages.

The new vintage is 2018 which Terry Theise describes as offering consistently fresh and wonderful wines that are “perhaps 80% delicious and 20% fascinating.”  All wines below are from the 2018 vintage unless otherwise noted.

The deadline for registration is Monday, March 9, 2020.   Please be sure to register soon for this always-popular event!

DATE:  Friday, March 13th, 2020.  Doors open at 7:00 pm; tasting begins at 7:30 pm.
VENUE: Harbour Square Club Room, 500 N St SW, Washington, DC. Marilyn Scarbrough has reserved a few parking spaces, but we cannot guarantee these will be available for everyone. The Waterfront Metro Station (Green Line) is nearby.

All members and guests are reminded that alcohol consumption can lead to intoxication.  Therefore Society members and their guests are expected to drink in moderation at Society events.  It is advisable to provide designated drivers where available, use Metro or other forms of public transportation, or mostly to taste rather than consume alcohol when not using designated drivers or public transportation.
