SUMMARY:German Wine Society Holiday Dinner at the Cosmos Club
DESCRIPTION:Ho Ho Ho\, German Wine Society Members and Friends of German Wines\, We’ve made our list and checked it twice … you’re in!  So\, please plan to attend this holiday paired dinner at the Cosmos Club\, Saturday\, December 6\, 2014\, starting at 7 p.m.  The address for our holiday dinner is 2121 Massachusetts Avenue\, N.W.\, Washington\, DC 20008.   Metro is near and parking is ample. The venue is stunning: a private room\, the Members Dining Room\, in this landmark building.  Perfect for that special evening with friends and family! The paired dinner: an exciting fusion of German and non-German wine regions we have been visiting throughout the year: Amuse-Bouche Smoked Salmon Flower in a pastry cup with cream cheese and capers Sekt Our Starter Belgian Endive Salad with baby arugula\, Asian pear\, roasted walnuts\, julienne of gruyere and balsamic vinaigrette 2006 Paul Anheuser\, Kreuznacher Moenchberg Scheurebe QBA\, Nahe 2008 Wolfberger Riesling\, Alsace Our Entree Orange Walnut Crusted Striped Bass with artichoke leek sauce\, haricots verts\, and basmati pilaf 2009 Dr. Thanisch\, Riesling\, Mosel 2007 Trimbach\, Gewuerztraminer\, Alsace Our Dessert Hot Popovers Crème  Brûlée & Berries 1998 Eugen Mueller\, Deidesheimer Nonnenstueck Rulaender\, BA\, Pfalz Coffee and Tea  Club parking is off Florida Ave. behind the club. There is a small white sign showing the parking entrance.  Parking is free and there is no tipping at the club including the valet parking. Parking is limited and Club members have preference. I would advise getting there early in case there are numerous functions going on at the club that evening. Dress code is strict\, coats and ties for men\, no jeans or tennis shoes.  Comparable attire for women.Dinner is $95 for members\, $105 for non-members.The deadline for reservations is Tuesday\, December 2\, so that we may provide Chef the count. Please include name\, number of guests\, email\, and phone number.Event Coordinator: Alan KnappAll Society members and guests are reminded that alcohol consumption can lead to intoxication\, and therefore Society members and their guests are expected to drink in moderation at Society events.  It is advisable to provide designated drivers or other modes of transit where available\, or mostly to taste rather than consume alcohol when such drivers or alternative means of transportation are not available.
