SUMMARY:Holiday Party at the Cosmos Club
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is closed. Ho Ho Ho\, German Wine Society Members and Friends of German Wines\, It’s nearly time to hang the stockings and dream of nice German wine…… So\, please plan to attend the GWS holiday paired dinner at the Cosmos Club\, Friday\, December 9\, 2016\, starting at 7 p.m.  We are very fortunate to have access to this lovely venue again this year.  The address for our holiday dinner is 2121 Massachusetts Avenue\, N.W.\, Washington\, DC 20008.   Metro is near and parking is ample. The venue is stunning: a private room\, the Members Dining Room\, in this landmark building.  Perfect for that special evening with friends and family! The paired dinner: an exciting variety of German\, and Austrian wines ranging from Trocken through Auslese styles and covering a variety of appellations ( Rheinhessen\, Franken\, Pfalz\, Mosel & Austrian Weinviertal Sparkler ). Here is the menu: Reception: NV Ewald Gruber Punkt Genau\, Grüner Veltliner sparkling wine (Weinviertal) Starter: Pumpkin Salad with  baby kale\, pomegranate seeds\, apple cider vinaigrette 2015 Weingut Keller Grüner Silvaner Trocken (Rheinhessen)  Entrée:  Roasted Arctic Char w/ butternut squash coulis\, wild mushroom risotto\, baby carrot and haricot verts; hot popovers  2013 Von Winning Riesling Trocken (Pfalz)   2012 Furst Burgstadter Spätburgunder (Franken)  Dessert:   Key Lime Pie w/ fresh berries & coulis Coffee  2005 Zilliken Ockfener Bockstein Auslese (Mosel)   2009 Studert-Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese (Mosel) Coffee and Tea Club parking is off Florida Ave. behind the club. There is a small white sign showing the parking entrance.  Parking is free and there is no tipping at the club including the valet parking. Parking is limited and Club members have preference. It is highly advisable to get there early in case there are numerous functions going on at the club that evening. Dress code is strict\, coats and ties for men\, no jeans or tennis shoes.  Comparable attire for women.  Dinner is $110 for members\, $120 for non-members.  The deadline for reservations is Dec 3 so that we may provide Chef the count. This promises to be a wonderful event so send off your reservations right away and don’t miss out.
