Now that I have prepared and sent out to our Chapter Members the formal notice for the San Francisco Chapter of the German Wine Society March 8, 2026 Event, I wanted you to see the formal notice and hope you will post it on the various Chapter and National websites.
To be clear, any current Members of other Chapters are GWS Members and may attend the Event for Free on the same basis as Members of the San Francisco Chapter.

Members and guests of Members of the San Francisco Chapter of the German Wine Society will gather on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm for a Spectacular tasting of 16 wines. The event will be at the home of Barry and Joan Boothe (2435 Divisadero Street in San Francisco). Street parking is available in the area.

Food:  There will be our usual buffet spread of enough delectable food to make a full meal, including dessert.

Wine: We will have a total of 16 wines – a reception wine and three flights of wines featuring a) wines from five regions (Mosel, Nahe, Pfalz. Rheingau, and Rheinhessen); b) wines with labels showing 11 categories of wines (“Dry”, “Limestone”, Trocken GG, Qualitätswein, Kabinett/Trocken, , Kabinett, Spätlese, Auslese, Eiswein, Beerenauslese, and Trockenbeerenauslese) and c) wines from 12 vintages (1976, 1993, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024). This will be another wonderful evening of fine & rare German wines from the Chapter cellar and the cellar of our Chapter President. We look forward to seeing you!

CostThis event is a Members Only event and is Free for 2026 Dues Paid Members (“Members Only” means that each 2026 Dues Paid Member may bring one guest, and the Member and the one guest may both attend for free). RSVP’s (including the names of any guests) are required by Wednesday, March 4, 2026 to give us sufficient time to ensure we have the amount of food necessary to serve all attendees.

Act now to reserve your place. The GWS encourages members and guests to follow current public health guidelines for respiratory viruses, if they are medically eligible, and according to their physician’s advice.   If you have recently been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or influenza but have no symptoms, please rapid-test on the day of the event and, if your result is positive, cancel your attendance.  If you are feeling ill with a respiratory or other illness, please do not attend the Event.    Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies.

All Society members and guests are reminded that alcohol consumption can lead to intoxication and therefore Society members and their guests are expected to drink in moderation at Society events. We suggest those attending either utilize designated drivers or other modes of transit where available, or mostly taste rather than consume alcohol when such drivers or alternative means of transportation are not available.
